Weir Seaboard showcased to Californian market

Weir Seaboard’s stand at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) exhibition

Weir Seaboard’s conventional and independent product lines were

displayed at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) exhibition and conference in California earlier this year, for the first time as a Weir Oil & Gas business. The show gave the

team the opportunity to meet with their target market to discuss products and new opportunities. Outcomes from the show included new business generation, gaining valuable knowledge of the Californian market,

relationship building with distributor agents and supporting goodwill for the brand with an opportunity to train young engineers from California State University and local state representatives from the Department of Oil and Gas Conservation.

Weir Minerals at ExpoMin 2012

Weir Minerals had a substantial presence at the mining trade show Expomin 2012, held in Chile in April. Some 1,300 companies from 35 countries welcomed 70,000 visitors at the event, which covers a floorspace of 60,000 sq metres. Hernan de Solminihac, the Chilean mining minister, officially opened the show before visiting the Weir booth.

Collaboration optimises operations

In December 2011, Weir SPM and the US Isolation Valves business

announced that all valve manufacturing operations would be consolidated into the Ipswich, MA facility, with the manufacturing plant in Washington, NC transferring to Weir SPM to support the capacity expansion of the Weir SPM flow business. The Washington, NC site joined the Weir Oil & Gas Division in July 2012. Project ‘Star’ was established to ensure all aspects of the organisation were involved in timely and successful execution. Keeping customer commitments, shipping quality products and continuing the excellent safety performance at both sites were key priorities.

Washington site commented, “Although the past six months have been extremely

busy, I’m proud of how the employees have remained focused on customer commitments, while maintaining product quality and safety standards.” Phani Guijari has taken the lead in the

expansion of the Ipswich MA facility to bring the production of commercial and nuclear valves under one roof. This re-location project involved a significant amount of coordination in order to transport and install the equipment and obtain the proper permits to build a new loading dock and re-organise the entire production area into commercial and nuclear manufacturing cells.

Phani’s exceptional project

management skills, along with the support of the Project Star team, have resulted in the Ipswich expansion progressing ahead of schedule.
