Gear up for a whitewater rafting trip on the Class II or III rapids of the Rio Pejibaye... and a ride on horseback through acres of sugar cane and coffee fields...

Irazú Volcano and smile as you pose with a Scarlet or Great Green Macaw at a wildlife rehabilitation center! Following a barbecue lunch at your hotel, learn about the agricultural techniques of a working sugar cane and macadamia nut ranch from the 1900s to the present day, with an opportunity to sample the hacienda’s products. The remainder of the day is free for you to spend as you wish; there are gardens to explore, pools to swim in and lakeside diversions to enjoy at your Costa Rican “casa.” Meals BLD

7. WHITEWATER FUN & A FIESTA

A tributary of the Reventazon River that flows through the Turrialba Valley, the Rio Pejibaye is a quintessential tropical river blessed with abundant wildlife and stunning scenic beauty just a bit off the beaten path southeast of San José in Costa Rica’s Central Highlands. We call it perfect for Culturious travelers who want to challenge their boundaries on a 3-hour whitewater rafting adventure on Class II or III rapids. Prepare to get wet as you encounter jaw-dropping scenery featuring a mix of Caribbean tropical vegetation and mountain greenery as your raft floats – and occasionally roars – down the river! Be as active – or not – as you wish this afternoon; after all, this is your dream vacation! In your free time, how about exploring the lake by canoe, bike or kayak? It’s a great way to spend your last afternoon in Costa Rica! Our farewell festivities tonight are at a nearby hacienda, inviting with good food, good drink and good friends... mucho gusto!
