Building upon the ten year success of the Halo game series – which has sold over 40 million worldwide – Re:creation is launching its range of die-cast collectables to coincide with the latest highly anticipated instalment of the series, Halo 4, due for release in the 2012 holiday season. The collectables include true and detailed scale versions of the game’s vehicles and characters, retelling parts of the Halo 4 story. The Halo set will feature a number

of ground and flying vehicles including the popular Warthog, with prices ranging from £12.99 to £34.99. Each vehicle comes with two posable figures. Users can utilise their smartphones and other devices to remotely control the AppRacer or AppCopter via the AppToyz Bug and the free app. The Bug attaches using small suction cups and plugs into the headphone jack to create an intuitive remote control. There is a choice between traditional

D-Pad controls or tilt control, a feature which makes full use of the device’s in- built in motion sensors. You want your car or copter to go right, just tilt the phone to the right. Main Sauce Productions also brings Fast Track – the ‘race in a case’. From research, the company discovered that although people love playing with slot car racers, the time they take to assemble and space issues mean they don’t come out of the box too often.

CHARACTER OPTIONS

Character Options expands its boys action vehicle portfolio with the addition of Flip Force: miniature collectable cars which are all about instant transformation. JAKKS PACIFIC

Powers Trains is a new range of motorised toy trains where the power is in a motor inside the trains, just like the real thing, rather than an electric current in the track, as with traditional train sets. The main advantage of the

range is its affordability, giving consumers a better opportunity to collect, connect and expand the broad range of accessories, delivering authentic-looking trains at reasonable prices. Fans will be able to buy a Motorized Engine Pack (with working lights) for the same price as an action figure – bringing mass market appeal to train sets.
