VIDEO IMAGE processing hardware manufacturer Calibre UK is introducing the new FoveaHD MEMC motion compensated frame rate converter at NAB. “This is a completely new
motion compensated standards converter designed for cost- effective and smooth SD and HD broadcasting. Typical applications for FoveaHD include newsgathering, mobile operations, outside broadcasting
and live events to studio dubbing and satellite broadcast communications,” said Tim Brooksbank, chairman at Calibre UK. The converter has multiple SD and HD inputs and outputs to enable upconversion, downconversion, cross conversion, as well as converting between all common frame rates. Adding to its functionality, the FoveaHD converter is equipped with 3G-SDI and Analogue I/O. FoveaHD provides motion compensated high and standard
definition standards conversion at the price of a standard linear video converter. “The introduction of
FoveaHD follows the success of our VideoExcel series broadcast grade universal format converters and frame synchronisers, which will also be on show at NAB alongside the latest HQView530 video scalers, format converters and scan convertors aimed at the professional video market,” added Brooksbank. PAG IS to show its new PAGlink high-power linking battery system for the first time in the US. PAGlink allows more than two V-Mount Li-Ion batteries to link, combining capacities for longer camera runtime. When linked, PAGlink batteries provide up to 12A for power-hungry high definition broadcast, digital cinema, and 3D camera set-ups. PAGlink batteries form a high-speed serial network that controls charge and discharge. The battery system allows charging to take place while the batteries are linked. The new PAGlink PL16 two- position charger is designed specifically for simultaneously charging up to eight linked
PAGlink batteries per channel. During charging the battery’s individual display clearly indicates its state-of-charge. PAGlink batteries can also be charged, while linked, using any other reputable manufacturers’ V-Mount Li-Ion charger. Run-time indication, in hours and minutes, and multi- viewfinder data system compatibility are standard PAGlink features. C8532
