Vinten NAB launch for the blue5 By David Fox
VINTEN IS showcasing its Vision blue5 pan and tilt head and tripod system for the first time. The Vision blue5 has the same functionality as the Vision blue system launched at last year’s NAB, but with a higher carrying capacity of 5.5kg to 12kg/12.1lb to 26.5lb @ 100mm CofG. Its LF drag technology enables complete control of the camera at any level of movement. Peter Harman, Vinten product manager, said: “Everyone in the
industry knows that to appreciate the true potential of equipment like this, operators need to see and feel the product to recognise its outstanding capabilities. This is why we’re giving NAB 2012 visitors the opportunity to witness the uncompromised professional performance of the new Vision blue5 for themselves.” Also on show at NAB 2012

display updating; and improvements to Pandora's gating function.
A compact and easy-to-read desktop or rack-mountable monitor, Pandora can be employed at any point in the broadcast chain that requires simple, accurate loudness monitoring. The unit facilitates easy capture, storage, and email delivery of loudness log files; comprehensive measurement of loudness metrics (LKFS/LUFS) over a user-defined period of time; and full compatibility with ITU-R BS.1770-1, ITU-R BS.1770-2, and EBU R128 to ensure its utility in both domestic
and foreign broadcast facilities for the foreseeable future. Enhancements to Pandora's
measurement and display capabilities include larger display of the average measurement on the numeric display screen, making that important measurement much easier to see. To simplify the loudness measurement of short programmes, such as commercials, the average display begins with the first measured sample, making the average measurement immediately available when the loudness measurement is started. DK Technologies
NEW MODEL of the meter: Danish manufacturer DK- Technologies is unveiling a new version of its ITU, EBU R128 and ATSC-compliant DK Meter, writes Melanie Dayasena-Lowe. The DK3 Compact Audio Loudness Meter (CALM) features a 3G HD/SDI video input so users can de-embed audio from a video stream. Broadcast engineers will now be able to work with any 5.1 audio format, including analogue, AES and SDI. DK- Technologies will also be showing the DK1 and DK2 meters for cost-effective stereo and 5.1 metering, including loudness. Richard Kelley, sales and marketing director for DK, said: “The DK Meter is exactly what the industry has been waiting for — an affordable audio metering solution that not only delivers conventional metering but also ITU, EBU R128, ARIB and ATSC-compliant loudness metering at the same time, on the same display and in a single box.” C9942
