PLAN ES3159
Cimarron Place
In this barn-like variation, the 14-by-64-ft. building is a two-car garage, a two or three-stall stable and a covered porch on the ground level. Upstairs are 1,164 sq. ft. of heated space.
GREEN HIGHLIGHTS
A Gambrel roofs lend themselves to solar panels even in NIMBY neighborhoods, because the upper pitches obscure them from view.

B The design calls for 6” SIP construction.

C The layout includes a dedicated room for mechanical and solar equipment.

D Specifications recommend Energy Star and water-saving appliances.

E Standing-seam metal roof is ideal for rainwater collection and highly durable.

F The rainwater cistern is protected from the elements.

G Vertical axis wind generator or wind finder can be positioned in cupola.

Fans of equestrian arts often dream of owning their own stables. This special purpose home has room to board three horses along with two cars. It’s easy to imagine the stable as an addition to a large-lot residential property zoned for horses. There’s also a living space above the garage area for guests—or as a rental-income apartment. Over the stable and porch are two bunk rooms and a second full bathroom. The layout includes plenty of storage, plus a large “fun and games” room.
