PLAN ES3158
Shadow Mountain Chalet
Some planned communities do not allow RV parking. No worries here. A 30-ft, RV plus two cars can fit on the first level of the chalet. Upstairs are 1,154 sq. ft. of snug living.
GREEN HIGHLIGHTS
A Gambrel roofs lend themselves to solar panels, because the upper pitches obscure them from view.
B The design calls for 6” SIP construction.
C Dedicated mechanical and solar equipment and storage are upstairs, off the main living area.
D Specifications recommend Energy Star and water-saving appliances.
E Durable standing-seam metal roof channels water into gutters and then into a rainwater cistern,
F The cistern is freeze-protected (hidden under the stairs).
G Vertical axis wind generator or wind finder can occupy the cupola.
This plan is perfect for full-time RV enthusiasts, such as a couple who have have roots in a community and want a permanent—but low-maintenance—dwelling in which to stretch out between trips. The upstairs quarters are just shy of 600 sq. ft. of conditioned living space, with three raised-berth bunks over the area below, which is dedicated to RV parking. The chalet features a second bath and a game area in a section that is separated from the primary upstairs living space.
