From the outside, this 2,278-sq.-ft. two-story home with its simple gable roof and bracketed eaves does recall the familiar farmhouse. Inside, the double fireplace divides a large, modern open living area.
This sleek two-bedroom, two-and-one-half bathroom plan melds an inviting balance of large open spaces with private spaces dedicated to specific activities. The living and dining/kitchen spaces may be separated only by a double fireplace, but the office/den is a private space—closed off with French doors. Upstairs are all of the bedrooms that seem to spiral around the wide landing/corridor. In inclement weather, the home’s entry can be closed to become something like an air lock, firmly separating indoors from out. A covered pathway leads from the detached garage to the home; the angled garage on the west side protects the home from northwesterly winter winds.
