GREEN HIGHLIGHTS
A The home is designed to be built of 6” SIP exterior walls and 8” SIP roof panels, in a square (36’ x 36’) building envelope.

B There are no direct openings between the house and the garage—to protect indoor air quality. Access to the garage is through the carport. A door from the garage leads to the covered porch on the home’s south side.

C There is no plumbing in the exterior walls, in order to reduce energy loss.

D The design calls for exterior stone to be obtained within a 500-mile radius of the building site. This reduces the environmental impact of transporting the stone.

E Also specified are reclaimed wood floors.

F Recommended roofing is recycled composite metal roofing over the SIPs.

G The designer suggests high-efficiency wood-clad windows, shaded where and when heat gain is unwanted; larger expanses where passive solar heating is desired.

H The plan recommends a geothermal heat pump.
