E3 REVIEW

Monday June 4th, 6pm PST

A packed conference from Sony kicked off with Heavy Rain successor Beyond: Two Souls. There was exclusive Assassin’s Creedand Call of Duty games for Vita, the innovative Wonderbook, new demos of God of War and The Last of Us– and no sign of 3D, at all.

Tuesday, June 5th, 9am PST Nintendo had unveiled the final look of Wii U on Sunday, so this conference was all about the games. It wasn’t a perfect conference, but there was plenty to excite Nintendo fans – from Pikmin 3to Nintendo Land, past LEGO City Undercoverand New Super Mario Bros U.

Tuesday June 5th, 12pm PST And we are off. EA, Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft once again dominated with huge stands, while GREE showed up for its debut year with its own giant booth. And these stands were huge, boasting impressive displays, such as movie props from Alien, booth babes dressed as the crew from Star Trek, plus a life-sized Warthog from the Halo series. THQ was notably absent, although it had a special meeting area upstairs. Square Enix held a mini-conference of its own after hours to showcase its new video game engine and celebrate 25 years of Final Fantasy, while Nintendo held a developer roundtable and a special conference dedicated to 3DS.

Tuesday to Thursday Once again, celebrities could be spotted stalking the halls of the Los Angelese Convention Centre – whether that was Snoop Dog promoting Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Fall Out Boy learning the nuances of Wii U or X-man James Marsden discovering what’s new at Sony’s booth.
