AWAY FROM the bright lights of Los Angeles, and very little has changed at UK retail.
The amount of money generated by boxed software sales remained flat week-on- week, while unit sales actually rose slightly to over 471,000 games sold.
The highest charting new release was Game of Thrones, which was published by FOCUS HOME INTERACTIVE and distributed in the UK by KOCH MEDIA. The game is actually based on the book series rather than the popular TV show, although Koch did market the product towards fans of the TV version, too.
At the top of the Chart-Track charts and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldieris still No.1. The UBISOFT game suffered a 48 per cent drop in unit sales week-on-week, but still held strong to score a third consecutive week at the summit. It is only the third game this year to achieve three or more No.1s, the other being FIFA 12(four No.1s) and FIFA Street(three No.1s).
Elsewhere, ROCKSTAR’s Max Payne 3remains in second place despite a 36 per cent sales slide, although it was almost usurped by FIFA 12. EA’s football game jumped up 48 per cent in sales week-on-week, possibly due to the opening of the European Championships.
Finally, Diablo IIIfrom BLIZZARD has re-entered the Top 40 (at No.22) with a 543 per cent sales jump. The game slipped out of the charts entirely last week due to severe stock shortages, but the RPG has returned to reclaim its crown as the No.1 PC game of the week. NINTENDO’s Wii Fit Plusalso shot up the charts (sales rose 279 per cent) due to price activity at retail.
