MCV: My little brother wants a game for his birthday. He says it’s coming out this week, something about zombies and cheerleaders?

Blockbuster: That’s Lollipop Chainsaw.

MCV: Can you tell me a little bit about it? I want to make sure it’s appropriate. Blockbuster:: How old is he? MCV: He’ll be 15.

Blockbuster: Ah, it’s actually rated 18, because of ‘strong bloody violence, gore and sex references’ – at least that’s what it says on the box. It looks like it’s about a cheerleader who doesn’t wear much and cuts up zombies with a chainsaw.

MCV: Okay, thanks very much.

Blockbuster: If you do get it, you can pre-order it with a £2 deposit, and it’ll cost you £29.99. If not, the day one price goes up to £39.99.

VERDICT:

Warner Bros will be happy their brand awareness is high enough to make Lollipop Chainsaweasily identifiable. We’re more concerned that the attendant didn’t try to dissuade us from buying an 18-rated game for a 15-year-old – instead offering us a pre-order discount. Score:

5/10
