Levelling the playing field for independent retailers
Jim Barnes, Director of Retail at Computer 2000, says that while the market presents its challenges, there are also some good opportunities for retailers out there right now – and Computer 2000 is ready to help independents take them.

Olympic opportunity Meeting the challenge
While the market is setting different challenges for every individual and business right now, with every challenge also comes an opportunity. Just because people are finding it harder to make ends meet, that does not mean they don’t want to be entertained – and to entertain themselves. In fact, you could argue that they want to do that even more and one of the last areas in which they are likely to cut their spending habits is hi-tech entertainment.
Look at the huge demand we continue to see for the Apple iPad – and with a new version on its way soon, excitement can be expected to build up yet again. Tat will create plenty of opportunities to sell add-ons and accessories as well as the device itself (and we have a brand new Apple store coming soon).
Smartphones continue to sell like hot cakes and there is also going to be a lot of excitement around the new generation of ultra-books, such as Samsung’s dazzling Series 9 900X3A. On top of this you have new concepts

With this year’s Olympic Games coming up – and the European Football Championships too – a lot of people are going to be thinking about buying home cinema projectors and large format televisions and in many cases, they’ll be looking to stream content directly from their home PC or laptop – so they will need good connectivity in the home.
More importantly, these customers will be looking for friendly, local, experienced advice – someone who they can trust to point guide their spending and maybe provide the installation and set-up as well.
Nothing is going to stop people enjoying themselves at the end of the day – or at any time. Tat’s why, right now, for independent retailers, there are plenty of good opportunities. Work with us, and we’ll help you to make the most of them.
