Meeting planners participating in our annual Meetings Market Survey report that key indicators of their meetings’ health — numbers of attendees and exhibitors — trended upward in 2011, but their expectations for 2012 are more tepid. More respondents expect their budgets
and attendance will grow than those who anticipate they will shrink, yet they’re projecting smaller increases compared to their expectations last year. The majority of meeting professionals said that they expect many things to stay pretty much the same — except for the way they approach their meetings. One planner wrote:
“We’re rethinking everything from forms to marketing to events.”
