OFF THE RECORD

LET’S GO DISCO Rising Star Games and Premier PR teamed up with the organisers of Nintendisco to promote compilations BIT.TRIP Complete and BIT.TRIP Saga. The event took place at Camden’s Barfly and allowed attendees to try out the game for themselves. There was even a gaming competition with a Wii up for grabs. Naturally, there were plenty of drinks and dance music to keep the party going well into the night.

INDIE LEGEND

Times are tough but one UK indie has found a great way to earn a little extra cash. Bedford’s Close Encounters is selling a sealed copy of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakeningfor Game Boy on eBay. That’s ‘sealed’ as in ‘still in its original packaging, not been opened since 1993 release’.

And at the time of writing the current bid is £1,550. Who says there’s no money in back catalogue?

AND FINALLY

After the digital disaster that was Fightbox, the BBC redeems itself with video game/TV show hybrid BAMZOOKi. The show allows kids to design computerised creatures and pits them against other team’s creations. The creators tell MCVthat retail versions of the software are on the way. Why did this sort of thing never take off? We’d love to be triggering traps on I’m A Celebvia Xbox Live or using our Vita to boo hopefuls on The X Factor.
