Oracle Marketing has launched a new embroidery digitising and vector artwork service for trade clients in the print and embroidery industry. Operational within Europe, Oracle has decided to set up in the UK with their own digitising, graphic artwork and sampling plant. The UK office is based in

West Yorkshire with a team of designers experienced in embroidery, graphic design and digitising. A company spokesman said:

“We offer a 24-48 hour turnaround for both services but most orders are delivered within 24 hours. “Our vision is to offer high quality designs at a competitive rate with a UK based team. Our team will always look to minimise stitch count and colour changes while maximising stitch out quality.”

New year, new chair for trade body PROMOTA

P

ROMOTA have seen in the New Year with a new person in the chair. Trudi Duncombe, director of bespoke garment manufacturer Infinity Clothing, has been appointed as the new chairwoman of PROMOTA, succeeding David Webster. Trudi is positive about the future of the association and sees her role as challenging, but at the same time exciting.

She suspects that those in the industry who know her well will think she's gone mad for taking on this very demanding role, especially in the current economic climate, however she believes in PROMOTA and is confident it will continue to

help and support distributors and suppliers both large and small. Trudi thanked outgoing chairman David Webster on behalf of the Board for his positive contribution during his term of office. Trudi says that she will be looking for input and guidance from members and the industry at large when working on new projects. She knows that it is important to work with the members to gain their trust and support, as they alone know what they want from the association which represents them.

Finally looking to the future the new PROMOTA chairwoman with her Board is formulating the association's plans for 2012 which will be revealed shortly.

Anvil Knitwear cuts water use

Anvil Knitwear has achieved a double-digit drop in the amount of water used to produce its T shirts, according to its 2011 CSR progress report, but emissions have risen as production and product ranges have expanded. Its latest update shows the American company reduced its water, steam and electricity usage per pound of finished T shirt fabric in fiscal year 2010, and cut landfill waste by 25%. Anvil's textile facility also used 10% less production water – equivalent to saving around 60m gallons – as a result of changes made in dye/bleach recipes and reuse of cooling water. The company has set the goal of reducing water per unit produced by 20% by 2020.
