Printwear & Promotion Live 2012 seminar programme announced
Printwear & Promotion Live 2012 features an action packed, free seminar programme and for the first time, we will be running an industry-leading keynote seminar presented by Continental Clothing, Fujifilm Sericol and The Soil Association at noon on each of the show’s three days. Here is a look at the seminar programme in detail. Presentations will take place in the seminar suite from Sunday, February 26th to 28th (see timings below).

his yearʼs headline seminar we will hear from three key industry players about the rapidly expanding market in certified organic textiles. With a brand new line of organic inks, simple certification procedures and a competitive supply base of organic products, the once niche organic sector has entered the mainstream, and is set to continue its dynamic growth.
Fujifilm will discuss the Sericol printing technology (water-based inks, water- based discharge inks, plastisol inks) and how their ranges meet the organic standards. The Soil Association will explain what it means for textile businesses to be organic, and the process for getting certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) for traders and printers. Continental Clothing will show how simple marketing of organic and sustainable products adds value, develops customer loyalty and strengthens the position of a brand or business.
In September 2011, Sericol inks from Fujifilm were the first products approved under the Soil Association Certificationʼs new ʻApproved Inputs for Textiles Schemeʼ. This new scheme will help organic textile and garment manufacturers to source low-impact textile processing chemicals. Sericol inks were the subject of an extensive research programme by the Fujifilm development team that focused on developing products with performance characteristics that meet the Soil Association Certification guidelines. Waterbased, plastisol and discharge inks have been approved. The Soil Association has been working in organic textiles for over 10 years, and played a leading role in the development of the Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS). Soil Association certified businesses saw their sales grow 35% in 2010, and there are now around 3000 businesses worldwide certified to GOTS, using over 6000 approved chemical inputs manufactured by over 300 chemical manufacturers. It is increasingly clear that it is possible to produce

modern, fashionable textiles in a way that is kinder, cleaner and better for people and planet.
