Borealis Stand 1 E32 Borealis, together with Borouge, will be showing a number of recent additions to its range, including the latest Borpure PP grades for thin wall packaging and new scratch resistant grades for markets such as appliances. The latest Borpure introduction is
RJ766MO, a PP intended for injection moulded thin wall packaging requiring good organoleptic performance. The resin is said to offer an optimised molecular weight distribution and crystalline structure that delivers improved flow together with a good balance of stiffness and impact performance.

food container on an e-Motion 310H/50V/180T two component all-electric machine, which will be running a two cavity mould from ZAO Mir Upakovi. E-Motion models are said to well suited to energy efficient packaging applications, offering injection speeds of up to 450mm/s and cycle times of less than 5s. Continuing the energy-saving theme, Engel will also
demonstrate a Victory 330/80 tech model equipped with its EcoDrive servo-hydraulic system, which is claimed to reduce energy usage by up to 70% compared to a conventional hydraulic system. It will be producing polyamide dowels on an eight-cavity mould. ❙

Intended to provide an alternative to ABS in applica- tions such as appliance control panels, BG066AP is a scratch resistant high gloss PP with good stiffness and impact performance. The company says its combination of lower density and high flow allows processors to make considerable savings compared to ABS. Borealis will also feature its Xmod WB300UB high
performance hybrid reinforced PP for automotive engine applications, where it can replace more costly PA based materials. The material has already provided significant weight and cost savings for Fiat, which is using it to produce the air filter system housing for its Brazilian-built Uno models. ❙

KraussMaffei Stand F E29 All-electric moulding technology also features on the KraussMaffei stand, where it will be demonstrated producing medical parts. The company will be producing PP “twist-off” bodies using a 24-cavity mould on an all-electric EX 160-750 CleanForm machine. CleanForm machine features include a sealed lubrication system which is said to make them suitable for use in GMP Class A cleanrooms. They can also be configured for fully sterile production, which can considerably reduce manufacturing costs. ❙
