Wittmann Group has an- nounced it is to expand production capacity for large machines at its Wittmann Battenfeld injection moulding machinery plant at Kottingb- runn in Austria. Work will start on the


project this year with comple- tion expected by September. The investment will see a total expansion of 3,000m2 ing a new 1,600m2


, includ- extension to


its assembly hall and 1,400m2 of additional space for pre- assembly and warehousing. The Kottingbrunn facility has been running at capacity throughout 2011 and the company is beginning 2012 with a strong order book.


Electrical connector conference


AMi has launched a new international conference for the fast growing electrical and electronic connector industry. in a statement the expansion plans have been prompted by the “extremely positive response” to the introduction in 2010 of its larger MacroPo- wer machines, which range


from 500 to 1,100 tonnes clamp force.


The Kottingbrunn factory, which Wittmann Group acquired from private equity group Adcuram in 2008, was originally designed for


production of smaller injection moulding machines. The company said the new assembly hall extension will be equipped for producing large moulding machines. ❙ www.wittmann-group.com


Hexpol acquires Müller TPEs


Hexpol of Sweden is buying the German TPE compounder Horst Müller Kunststoffe from the rowa Group for a total of E39 million when adjusted for acquired net debt. The deal is expected to be completed this month, the company said in a statement. Müller employs


around 90 people and has an annual turnover of approxi- mately E46 million. it operates two compounding plants in lichtenfels, Germany, producing TPE-S, TPE-V and TPE-U. rowa Group acquired a 60%


interest in the TPE manufac- turer in 1998 and bought the remaining 40% in 2004.
