Winnaar in categorie 4. Deck equipment, sails, and rigging. Dat is de Constrictor, hierboven beschre- ven bij het “Meest Innovatieve Product”.

Runners-up Multiroller, fender van Multiplex GmbH, is een lichtgewicht ‘stootwillen’ instrument dat gemonteerd wordt op de steiger. Ge- maakt van carbon.

De jury: “Especially suitable for large sailing yachts, this attractive capstan is made using grade 316 stainless steel and features a drum that can be elec- trically or hydraulically lowered flush to the deck creating valuable clear safe space for crew. Ideal for boats up to 50 metres.”
Niet helemaal duidelijk is geworden waarom de Multiroller in deze categorie is terecht gekomen. Categorie 3, Marina Equipment, lijkt ons logischer.

The jury felt that Ballistic Eco Pants were notable for being smartly designed and extremely comfortable.”

Het Deckvest LITE reddingvest van Spin- lock, geïmporteerd door More Marine, nodigt uit om gedragen te worden, wat volgens de jury het belangrijkste van persoonlijke veiligheid is. Een vest dat niet gedragen wordt, werkt ook niet.

SafeLink R10 Survivor Recovery System by McMurdo Ltd. De jury: “A personal AIS search and rescue locating device designed to be fitted into a lifejacket and therefore assist in survivor recovery. The SafeLink R10 SRS allows those on board a vessel with an AIS enabled chart plotter or onboard navigation system to quickly and efficiently locate and retrieve a man overboard.”
Winnaar in categorie 7. Machinery, propul- sion, mechanical, and electrical systems and fittings:
Stabilis Electra 18BR-2X van CMC Marine. De jury: “A development of a previous model which has now achieved improved performance, through the use of a new electrical actuator and electronic regulator. This has resulted in reduced power con- sumption of up to 50%. The jury felt that this new version will have a major impact
in making fin stabilization a desirable and viable option for both builders and owners.”

De Rimdrive van Vetus. Bij deze compacte en ‘verpakte’ boegschroef is de schroef onderdeel van de elektromotor (rotor) en is de zogeheten stator in de wand van de tunnelbuis gebouwd.
Winnaar in categorie 8. Marine related software TimeZero Trident van MaxSea / MapMedia / Nobeltec. De jury: “Offers a sophisticated user interface that is extremely intuitive, allowing users to easily zoom, pan, and change chart display modes without limi- ted range presets. It incorporates full-time 3D chart rendering and has a 2D top-down view that successfully achieves the look and feel of traditional chart plotting presen- tation. The jury felt that Nobeltec’s Time- Zero Trident is an important step forward for dynamic PC-based navigation.”
Donatie voor Sailing Kids
Bedrijven die inschrijven voor de DAME- Award, betalen per product inschrijfgeld, dat door de METS wordt gedoneerd aan een goed doel, dit jaar de Stichting Sailing Kids.
Nicolette Hoekmeijer hield voor de uitreiking van de cheque van 19.950 euro door Theo Lingmont, directeur internatio- nale beurzen van de RAI, een bijzonder inspirerende, gevoelige en toespraak, welke ondersteund werd door een indrukwekken- de visuele presentatie. Sailing Kids biedt ernstig of chronisch zieke kinderen in de leeftijd van 18 tot 25 jaar en hun gezonde broertjes, zusjes en ouders, gratis zes- daagse vakanties op het IJsselmeer en de Waddenzee aan boord van een gehuurde klipper of originele schoener. Naast de volledige catering en allerlei activiteiten op het schip waaruit de gasten kunnen kiezen, zorgt een volledig gekwalificeerd medisch team van vrijwilligers voor de gasten aan boord. Tot nu toe hebben zo’n 1.200 men- sen kunnen genieten van een vaartocht met de Sailing Kids.
De stichting wordt volledig gefinancierd door sponsors en donaties, ook uit de jachtbouwindustrie. Neptune gaf bijvoor- beeld 32 matrassen voor driemaster De Vrijheid, een donatie ter waarde van 13.000 euro. (
