value for money?
Is £25 a ticket for the biggest bikes-only rally in Europe value for money? You bet it is!
Hi Folks We at Yorkshire MAG have decided for the fifth year not to raise the price of a ticket for the largest motorcycle only rally in Europe. The organisers of MAGʼs Number one fund raiser have again decided not to raise the ticket prices, which remain the same as they were in 2007. After high inflation, VAT going up from 15% to 20% and putting more and more things on at the Farmyard, ranging from bigger and better bands, daytime entertainment, more marquee cover per person than any other rally in the UK, and a return of our uber successful MAG food van, Yorkshire MAG decided that its ethos of ʻBy Bikers, For Bikers, In aid of Bikers and Bikers pocketsʼ, must be adhered to, even if it means absorbing more inflation and set up costs to do it in this time of austerity among our fellow bikers in the UK, Yorkshire MAG have made the decision not to cut corners on anything to do with the rally. If anything it will be bigger and better. Iʼve had my socks and shoes off and done some maths to put together a rough guide to what your ticket gets you, based on the 2011 rally, with 8500 of you paying £25.00 for a ticket, but remember the Farmyard turnover makes it eligible for VAT at 20% on each ticket sold, so we have to give £4.17 to the

government for every ticket you buy. That means the ticket price is actually only £20.83. The costings below are all before the dreaded VAT is added, so brace yourself for a steep learning curve.
• Farmyard Ticket without VAT costs £20.83 • Site rent, your tent pitch – £1.55 • Big Top, marquees, tables and chairs – £1.10 • Stages, sound and lighting equipment – £1.91 • Power and fuel for the generators – £1.39 • Entertainment, firewood, program, etc. – £2.56 • Medical and first aid – £0.98
• Site clearing, landfill (27 tons of rubbish) – £1.55 • Contractors, security, H&S fire patrol – £0.96 • Hire equipment, porta cabins, quads, etc. – £ 0.85 • MAG Membership discount – £1.29. • Advertising, printing, etc. – £1.30 • Miscellaneous, tons of bits and bobs – £0.47 • Marshalling costs, (all volunteers) – £1.41
The part of your ticket price that MAG doesnʼt get – £17.32
So this leaves £3.51 profit from a £25.00 ticket – exploitation? Pete Walker, Event organiser
