Latest to sign on the line is arch cynic and rascally imp of publishing, Roger Willis. The one time editor of Bike magazine and latterly publisher of the trade journal British Dealer News, Roger’s incisive industry perspective allied to an ascerbic wit have earned him respect and occasionally landed him in deep water. Chesca Miles, Britainʼs Top Female Stunt Rider stars at Thundersprint 2012


Now, recovered from serious injuries sustained last year Chesca Miles is making a return to Britain’s biggest biking street party, The Thundersprint. This year’s event will be held over the weekend of May 12/13 in Northwich town centre. Chesca said: “I just had to come back for a second go at this fabulous event. The injuries I picked up in America really hampered me last year but I’ll be 100% ready for action in May.”


Bike channel launches on Sky TV


Following the success of online motorcycle site Bike Channel, it’s now been launched on Sky TV Channel 203 on Mondays at 7.30pm.


The Bike Channel now produces bike reviews for Ace Café and others. The Bike Channel show producers hope to appeal to viewers of all ages and interests. They’ll be reviewing the latest bikes & gear, motorcycle events, interviewing riders, attending race & stunt schools, etc.

6 The ROAD £210,500 for Brough Superior


The top lot of the day at a recent Bonhams’ auction was this 1929 Brough Superior SS100, known as ‘Moby Dick’. It was hailed in its day as ‘the fastest privately owned machine in the world that was suitable for road use’. Tested by Motor Cycling magazine in 1931, ‘Moby Dick’ achieved a top speed of 106mph, a staggering achievement at a time when very few road vehicles of any sort were capable of reaching three-figure speeds. Further tuning of the modified 1,142cc v-twin engine later raised that figure to 115mph in top (third) gear, with 109mph achievable in second.

“Bikes in bus lanes crazy!” says bus boss


Proposals to allow bikers to use bus lanes to reduce inner-city congestion have been called ‘crazy’ by the head of Brighton and Hove buses.


This is one motorcycle that doesn't leave anything to waste because it's powered by excrement. The Toilet Bike Neo, is the brainchild of Japan's leading toilet manufacturer Toto and uses a modified lavatory and a mobile laboratory for processing. Riders are encouraged to use the portaloo as much as possible on every journey as the waste is turned into biofuel which powers the machine.


The company hopes the travelling toilet, which can reach a maximum speed of 50mph, will help reduce CO2 emissions by 50 per cent in the next six years.


The proposal was brought before a council meeting recently by MAG member Simon Frampton and had received tentative support from councillors. But Roger French, Chief Executive of Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company, has dismissed the plans as neither ‘appropriate nor suitable’. The issue was raised at a council meeting by the MAG members who presented a petition of 800 signatures to the council on the proposal. They have asked for a trial run of the scheme in the A259 bus lane between Ovingdean and Newhaven and the A23 bus lane before extending the scheme further across the city.
