MAG President Ian Mutch thanking MCN staff for their newspaper’s extraordinary generosity, thanks to Alex Lester for the use of his sidecar

MAG’s President survived the hazards of lane-swapping juggernauts in freezing fog to reach Brussels a mere day after leaving the UK. The occasion was a ride to the EU Parliament organised by Motorcycle News following MAG’s spectacular September 25th motorway protest. A run into Europe in late November was never destined to see the kind of numbers MAG’s summer bash generated (40,000 plus) but 140 bikes were counted out of the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Central Brussels for a ride to The European Parliament where the riders were addressed by MCN’s Senior Reporter Steve Farrel, Mike Weatherley MP, Chris Hodder of the BMF and MAG President Ian Mutch. Mutch opened his speech by thanking MCN’s Steve Farrel and Assistant Editor John Westlake for their generosity in offering to pay the expenses of everyone who’d come. Whatever it was the MCN staffers were trying to say in response to this was drowned by the grateful cheers of those who had braved the elements to be there.
