AROUND THE CONFERENCE

HISTORIC TV DEAL FOR PAC-12

Pac-12 sports fans’ dreams came true this summer when Commissioner Larry Scott announced the formation of the Pac-12 Networks, which will begin airing hundreds of Conference sport- ing events in August

2012. Created with an innovative blend of cable operators and production

companies, Pac-12 Networks will

put thousands of hours of sports and school programming on air for fans throughout the country. Also, for the fi rst time, every football and men’s basketball game will be seen on national television, either

through FOX Sports, ESPN, or the Pac-12 Networks. Watch your TV on your phone? No problem. The Networks will be available on smartphones and tablet computers. Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, and Bright

House will join with the Pac-12 to create six regional networks (Northern California, Southern California, Oregon, Washington, Ari- zona, and Mountain) that will eventually show more than 850 live events each year. Look for new programming such as spring football, as well as coverage of all Conference championships (see box) and a multitude of regular-season events.

“The Pac-12 Networks will customize programming towards local interests and provide our students, alumni, and many fans with the widest-possible range of events with the best opportunity to see the schools they care about most,” Scott said.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Today’s Pac-12 Football Championship is just one of many Conference titles that will be decided during the 2011-12 school year. In fact, one has already been completed. Congratulations to the University of Colorado, which, in its fi rst season with the Pac-12, won both the men’s and women’s cross-country championships in October. That event, hosted by Arizona State, kicked off a busy schedule of Pac-12 championship events. Sport
