COIN FLIP

Continuing a year-long celebration and in anticipation of the upcoming movie Red Tails, taking part in the pre- game coin fl ip will be members of the famed Tuskegee Airmen. Several members of the group will serve as hon- orary captains. The Airmen were an African-American fl ying group that served with great distinction and hero- ism during World War II. They took their name from the Tuskegee Institute (now University) in Alabama; most of the fi rst Airmen were students at Tuskegee. Their work and dedication during the war years played a big part in ending segregation in the Air Force and other parts of the U.S. military.

Fans can hear all the action from today’s game on ESPN Radio. Dave Flemming will handle the play-by-play. The voice of Stan- ford football, he’s also heard regularly on San Francisco Giants games. He’ll be aided by the analysis of David Norrie, who knows a thing or two about one of the teams in to- day’s game. As a quarterback, he led UCLA to a Pac-10 Championship and a berth in the 1986 Rose Bowl. The longtime college football announcer was also a member of the Pac-10 All-Academic Team.
