Unique Architecture Colorado’s campus architecture was designed by Charles Klauder in the early 1920s. Initial designs called for the English Collegiate Gothic style that was favored in East Coast universities. But Klauder proposed a unique style featur- ing textured sandstone walls, red-tile roofs, and limestone trim. Since then, all Boulder campus buildings have been constructed in the same style.
Ralphie
Since 1967, a charging buffalo named Ralphie has led the football team onto the fi eld before every home game. A rented buffalo fi rst appeared on Colorado’s sideline in 1934, the year the school’s athletic teams got the nickname “Buffaloes.” More than 30 years later, the original Ralphie was donated to the university. The current buffalo is Ralphie V.
