WELCOME game progra m

Expanding for the fi rst time in 33 years, we have great pride and respect for our rich history of academic excellence and superior athletic achievement. It has literally defi ned us as the “Conference of Champions,” and we will continue to uphold the traditions and embrace that broad-based commitment to success as we enter a new era in college athletics.

The remarkable student-athletes and leaders who have helped shape our Conference for nearly a century have allowed Pac-12 programs to capture 442 NCAA titles, by far the most of any conference in the country. And that does not include the 2,019 individual championships our multi-talented student-athletes have won. In football, it’s been a historic year for us, a new 12-team Conference with two balanced divisions that feature some classic, long-standing rivalries, as well as the making of several new ones. With all of the great quarterbacks, the high-scoring offenses, and aggressive, attacking defenses in the Pac-12, I’m sure both coaches would agree that it’s been a challenging road to get to the Pac-12 Championship Game. Rather than play this game at a neutral location, we chose to reward the team with the best overall Conference record with home fi eld advantage. With a BCS Bowl game at stake, we expect to have a stadium fi lled with the energy and excitement befi tting of major conference championship game. As a fan, we need you on our team as we create an atmosphere that is fun for our student-athletes and family

friendly. Your courtesy to student-athletes from the visiting team and our offi cials is appreciated and expected. We hope you agree with us, and the NCAA, about the importance of sportsmanship: “Respect is the name of the game.” We hope you have a great time during your visit and enjoy the game!

Sincerely,

to our first-ever Pac-12

Football Championship Game, which promises to be a highly charged atmosphere with a Rose Bowl berth on the line.
