Pets are an important part of the family, but would you know what to do if your dog or cat had a medical emergency? Do you know what things you should never do? This pet first aid class will provide you with valuable information and skills that will give your pet a better chance of survival should a medical emergency occur. Skills learned include basic wound care, bleeding management, the Heimlich maneuver, rescue breathing, and CPR. Learn how to recognize early warning signs of illness, how to stay safe while helping your pet, what to do if your pet is hit by a car or ingests something poisonous, how to create a pet first aid and disaster preparedness kit…and much more! At the completion of the course, each participant will receive an American Red Cross Dog and Cat First Aid completion certificate. No prior knowledge is necessary. Course book is included. State-certified volunteer educators teach the basics of safe hunting, including hunter responsibility, wildlife management, firearm, ammunition and archery safety, first aid and survival techniques. Passing a Hunter Safety class is required for anyone born on or after January 1, 1980 who want an Illinois hunting license. This course also meets the requirements for adult hunters in many other states. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 16.
