A very good lesson!

Name: Shona Findlater Age: 22 Occupation: Primary School Teacher Class Manager:Winnie Rough Height: 5’6”

Before she embarked on her newteaching career, Shona Findlaterwasworried she wasn’t setting a good example to the primary school children shewas to teach.

“Iwas entering a new stage in my life and I really wanted to change,” said Shona.

“I had been feeling miserable about my weight for some time and Iwanted to become healthier, fitter and happier – and to be a better example to the children I was going to teach.”

Luckily for Shona, her mum, Marion, also wanted to lose a few pounds, so they agreed to join their local Scottish Slimmers class together.

“At first, I felt losing almost four stone just wasn’t going to be achievable,” said Shona, “but as pound after pound started to drop off, I began to believe I wasn’t just going to get a bit slimmer, I was going to reach my TargetWeight.”

Shona and her mum were enjoying losing weight and feeling more active, and Shona’s dad, Bobby, couldn’t fail to notice the change in them.

“After a few months, Dad joined

in as he wanted to feel as good as we did,” said Shona. And, the Findlater family’s team efforts paid off when, after losing over nine and a half stone between them, they won the Healthier Family title at Scottish Slimmers’ 2010 Slimmer of the Year event.

As she slimmed down, Shona decided that she would try to get a bit fitter – and before long she was hooked!

“I couldn’t believe how good it felt to run! My body felt lighter and before I knew it Iwas running 10ks just for fun!”

After improving her fitness and losing three and a half stone, Shona feels like a new woman.

“I am more positive, happy and confident which is exactly what I need for the profession I am entering. I am a regular runner now – and so is my mum! Running helped me lose weight and it now helps keep my stress levels at bay!

“My friends thought Iwas crazy going for a 30 minute run after a day teaching six and seven year-olds, but it wasmy release. Instead of eating when I’mbored, I simply put onmy running shoes and build up a sweat!”

For Shona, dropping three dress sizes and finding a new shape has been amazing.

“I don’t feel like a fat, frumpy 22-year-old any more. I feel slim, positive, energetic and excited about my future and the new

fit, healthy and happy Miss Findlater I’ve become!”
