MONARCH AIRLINES/ALPHA SERVAIR/SOFITRANS

ONBOARD RETAIL SOLUTIONS/INITIUM

Air partners

Monarch Airlines has introduced a full retail concession that gives Alpha In-Flight Retail total responsibility for all the airline’s retail products and services. Previously Alpha had been appointed Monarch’s catering and inflight retail partner, with responsibility for the creation and delivery of catering and inflight retail on all flights. The success of this partnership led to the agreement being extended into a full concession model. This sees Alpha taking over all back-office functions relating to catering and inflight retail, including cash and reconciliation processes. Alpha also provided new onboard technology to be used inflight, as well as additional specialist sales training for cabin crew to help increase sales. www.monarch.co.uk www.alpha-group.com

Madagascan equity

Servair and Sofitrans, a Madagascan company offering airport restaurant and air catering services, have signed a letter of intent paving the way for Servair to acquire equity participation in Sofitrans. The two companies intend to pool their experience in airline catering, bars and restaurant operation, duty-free shop management, airport handling and cleaning services, and outside catering. “By entering into this new partnership with Sofitrans, Servair is joining forces with a local player with a solid presence in the Indian Ocean and East Africa,” said Patrick Alexandre, Servair ceo and chairman. The company also recently announced the creation of a new airline catering unit at Kotoka/ Accra airport in Ghana. In partnership with Ghana Airports Company and another local partner Servair, as major shareholder, will manage the 2000m2 unit. www.servair-catering.com
