Private Le Salon


Thalys has introduced its new onboard private lounge Le Salon in trains on the Brussels – Paris route, where the journey time is 1hr 22mins. Aimed at business travellers, each salon consists of four chairs surrounding a conference table. Included is wi-fi access and plug sockets. Passengers booking Le Salon are offered the same services as in Thalys’ Business Class, Comfort 1, which includes at-seat dining, wi-fi access, newspapers and magazines. To reserve Le Salon on the Paris – Brussels journey costs €600 for a maximum of four people, as opposed to €552 for four Hi-Life tickets. Thalys also operates from Brussels to Cologne and Amsterdam in 1hr 47mins and 1h 53mins respectively. www.thalys.com


Muscat unveils lounges Economy Plus


Oman Air recently unveiled new First and Business lounges at Muscat International Airport on the first floor of the terminal. They are open 24 hours a day and offer dedicated dining facilities, quiet rooms, men’s and women’s prayer rooms, wash and shower rooms, a business centre, and a Chedi spa with massage rooms for complimentary 15-minute treatments. Lounge dining ranges from light bites to hearty meals. First passengers can enjoy an a la carte menu, each dish of which is individually prepared to specific requirements. There is a dedicated playroom for children with computer games and toys. For First passengers there are lifts and staircases to the limousine pick-up point where chauffeurs will take passengers to their aircraft. United Continental Holdings will retain United’s popular Economy Plus® seating on United flights and expand the option to Continental aircraft beginning in 2012. United currently offers Economy Plus on all 359


mainline aircraft and more than 150 larger regional jets operated by United Express® carriers. When the multi-year conversion process is complete, the company plans to offer Economy Plus on more than 700 mainline aircraft, including all Continental’s mainline fleet, as well as larger regional aircraft. When fully deployed, the new United fleet will include more than 40,000 Economy Plus seats, providing more than 122,000 such seats each day. Continental will continue to offer extra legroom seats until those aircraft are reconfigured with Economy Plus seating and continues to reconfigure United and Continental aircraft with new lie-flat seats in First and Business. www.united.com
