Gore continues to enhance its engineered polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) technology for use in flat and round cables,making them ideal for extreme environments such as semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace and industrial applications. The expanded PTFE composite
jacketmaterial boasts a low coefficient of friction and tear resistance, enabling Gore’s high flex cables tomaintain excellent signal integrity. It also allows flat cables to be stacked on top of each other
without dividers and shelves, reducing the overall size and weight of cable systems. Unlike flat cables with jacketsmade of extrudedmaterials such as silicone and polyurethane, the low coefficient of friction does not create particles, which is a crucial advantage in cleanroomenvironments.

Designed formaximumvibration resistance, Hitaltech's flat flexible cable is combined with round pin terminations achieved by flattening the round, solid copper conductors to give a smooth transition fromflat to round. This provides a flexible cable which is resistant to bending and acts as a vibration damper.
It can be used as a flat flexible solution for PCB
to PCB connection, PCB to component or an entire cable harness. Termination styles enable the use of ZIF / LIF connectors, crimp connectors and IDC. Special pin lengths or shapes can be produced for connecting or soldering a component directly to the cable end.Windows in the insulation enable SMD components to be soldered directly onto the cable.
A range of eight pin pitches from1.0 to
5.08mmis available and the length can be between 19 and 5,000mm. Various insulation materials are offered. Special pin pitches,mixed wire gauge and termination style can also be produced. Other options include higher current and hybrid variants containing optical fibres for signal and copper conductors for power.

Phone cable cuts fire hazard
Now in stock at Aerco, CW1600 cable from B3 Cable Solutions is an internal grade limited fire hazard (LFH) multi-pair telephone cable. The product is similar to CW1308 standard indoor telephone cable, but with the addition of a halogen-free flame retardant sheath. It is mainly used for applications in buildings where the need to protect people and equipment from smoke and fumes is paramount.
Other advantages of CW1600 cable
are that it has an aluminium/polyester foil electrical screen and drain wire and a fire retardant tape on all cables with more than six pairs together with a 1.38mm insulated earth wire. CW1600 cable is available in conventional pair counts up to 320 pairs.
