Jens Beining appointed as further personally liable partner of Wortmann Schuh-Holding KG

The Wortmann Group, Detmold, one of the leading shoe production and

sales companies in Europe, has announced that Jens Beining (40), the nephew of company founder Horst Wortmann, was appointed as a further personally liable partner of Wortmann Schuh-Holding KG. Horst Wortmann and Jens Beining therefore have the sole power of representation for the holding company which serves as a parent company for the entire group. "We are a family-run company and want to remain as such for the generation to come“, says Horst Wortmann. The combination of experience and youth is an important aspect for Wortmann within the scope of preparing for the future change to the new generation of Senior Management. It is planned that in the future Jens Beining will take the lead of the group following Horst Wortmann. After completing a degree in business economics, Mr. Beining first joined

Wortmann KG as Assistant to the Senior Management in 1995. During his later positions as Head of Domestic Sales, Head of Marketing, member of the Senior Management and finally as one of the managing directors at Wortmann KG, he primarily was responsible for the branding of Tamaris as well as the Tamaris system partnership. This extremely successful development, which has also recently received a number of different awards, is primarily owed to the consistent Marketing Management under his leadership. The Wortmann Group which is represented by over 900 employees at

11 locations in Europe and another 11 locations in Asia, achieved a total turnover of 832.1 million euro in the last business year of 2009/10 (31.05.). For the current business year a double-figure turnover growth exceeding 900 million euro is anticipated. The collections of the Wortmann Group are offered worldwide in more than 70 countries and in over 14,000 shoe shops.

8 • FOOTWEAR TODAY • FEBRUARY 2011 Greater Manchester Police are investigating the murder of a woman in

the late 1970's or early 1980's. In January 2010 contractors in Manchester City Centre unearthed a skeleton whilst clearing a piece of land for development. The post mortem revealed that she had been murdered after suffering fractures to her jaw bone, collar bone and neck. Experts have put the time of her murder between 1975 - 1985. The police have obtained a DNA sample from the victim but her identity

remains a mystery. One major line of enquiry to establish her identity and narrow down the time of her death is the clothing that was recovered with the skeleton. A ladies left shoe is one of the items the police are keen to learn more about. The number in the heel of the shoe is RS4G with 6 - 8 underneath it. We

would like to hear from anybody who has any information about this shoe (images on Footwear Today Website, Breaking News)
