David Golledge 2/03/1942 - 7/01/2011 We are sad to announce that David Golledge footwear agent, has passed away.

David Golledge represented many companies during his long and

successful career. Starting at Pococks as a young man, David went on to work for K. Shoes, Wilfords and Blu Shu amongst others. He travelled in an area covering the whole of Wales, The west Country, and as far East as Hampshire and the Isle of Wight building up a very large portfolio of customers. He was a familiar face at the British footwear shows, where customers

would often wait in line to speak to him personally. No-one else would do!! Also his knowledge and personality always ensured very good attendance at the many Hotel Stock Room shows he organised. He retired 8 years ago after suffering a stroke, but retained a lively interest in the Shoe Trade, often offering support and advice to his friends in the industry. David was well known loved and respected within the Shoe Trade.

2011 Championship at

Carden Park on June 15th, 16th and 17th 2011.

The International Golf Championship of the Shoe, Leather and Allied

Trades in 2011 is to be held in Cheshire at the De Vere Carden Park, set in some of Cheshire’s most beautiful countryside, on a site dating back to the 17th century. In the last few years nearly £10 million has been invested in the Hotel and Golf facilities. Carden Park has two challenging courses, the Nicklaus and the Cheshire,

each with their own unique features. The Nicklaus, one of only four Jack Nicklaus designed courses in the UK, is a thinking golfer’s course, with split fairways, well placed hazards and spectacular views. The Cheshire is amazingly scenic with panoramic views over the Welsh Hills and the Cheshire countryside, and offers classic British heath land golf. Where it is necessary to stick to the well groomed fairways as the rough can be punishing, and the undulating terrain provides interesting lies and putts. The Championship in Killarney last year was very successful with 130

competitors, which raised and increased amount for the Trade Charities of £15,250, (Footwear Friends and LHTBI ). Manufacturers, Retailers, Agents, Wholesalers and Distributors from the Footwear and Leather industries competed for a large array of Silver Trophies, along with numerous visitors and guests. The main Championship is played over 36 holes, on the Thursday and

Friday; this includes the Ladies Championship and the Visitors and Guests competing for the Marlone Trophy. On the Wednesday at 11am. there is the International Match with England & Wales defending the Bridge of Weir Trophy they hold, having beaten Scotland & Ireland in Killarney last year. This Match is followed by the Start-rite Sponsored Competition open to all competitors, and like the main Championship is based on full handicap Stableford format. The main social event of the Championship is the Banquet, being held at

the Hotel on the Thursday evening. The Regional Trophies will be presented prior to the Banquet and afterwards John Martin will be the guest entertainer. Entry forms are being sent out in January and February, and the entries

close in April with the draw being notified to all competitors in May. Contact Rodney Gibson on 01162 434081 or rodney@leicesteruk.co.uk

www.footweartoday.co.uk He was a great character, generous and openhearted, always ready with a

joke and very popular with customers and friends, of which he had many. There will be a lot of people out there with "A David Golledge Story" to tell, and who smile when they remember him! Malcolm Williams former M.D. of Blu Shu said; "David was much more than a colleague to me. He was a trusted and loyal friend. I valued his opinion and support, but most of all he made me laugh! Myself, my partner Lynne, and our family will miss him terribly! David died on Friday the seventh of January 2011 at his home, of which he

was so fond, in Bridgend South Wales. He will be hugely missed by his wife Betty, his daughters Tracey and Rachel, his sons in law Mostyn and Rochie, and his two beautiful grandchildren Carys and Tanveer.
