Moda Footwear unveils biggest line-up ahead of February show 20 - 22 February 2011
M
oda Footwear will be showcasing its biggest ever line-up of brands on 20-22 February at the Birmingham NEC with a host of exciting new signings strengthening an already impressive roster of brands. The upcoming edition of Moda Footwear will feature its strongest
and most eclectic mix of contemporary, classic and directional footwear from the finest selection of new and established brands firmly cementing the show’s status as the UK’s largest and best footwear tradeshow. Some of the most exciting new arrivals at Moda Footwear can be found in
the show’s Life area, dedicated to unisex lifestyle and men’s fashion footwear. Bringing a more directional feel to the zone will be urban and causal names including US heritage label Original penguin which will be showing its footwear collection for the first time at the show. Eco brand Po- Zu meanwhile will be debuting its own mainline range as well as a capsule collection of recyclable shoes and boots in collaboration with Timberland. Northern star and footwear favourite Nicholas Deakins will be showing its
young fashion line Deakins, with fellow Brit brands Bamboo A and Front also adding weight to the show. With the boat shoe trend still in full sail, original boat shoe brand Sperry-Topsider will be back in the Life zone this February along with iconic US label Keds. The biggest names in fashion footwear for the urban male will also be
returning to Moda Footwear this season. After a successful debut in August US giant Tommy Hilfiger will be back again in February as part of plans to target specialist footwear stores with its autumn/winter 2011 collection. Other regular and returning brands at February’s show include the likes of Hush Puppies, Geox, Rockport, Kickers, CAT Footwear and Base London. Some of Britain’s best and highly regarded heritage brands including Barkers, Cheaney and Loake will also be participating in the show and will add a classic British feel to the show’s Essential and Life zones. All three brands will be showing contemporary designs alongside established classics and highlighting the best in traditional workmanship and high quality materials. Brand new this season will be the British Footwear
Association’s ‘Made in Britain’ initiative which will be showcasing the skills of some of the UK’s best footwear manufacturers. The initiative is designed to encourage more footwear brands to produce their collections in Britain. Women’s footwear fashion will also enjoy a fantastic selection of
new names joining this February. UK label WedgeWelly will be showing its collection of specialist designer Wellington boots that incorporates a wedge heel and is aimed at the fashion-forward woman wanting to look good while enjoying the great outdoors.
Another newcomer for ladies footwear will be Blowfish Malibu who will be bringing a slice of LA sunshine with its surf style collection. Expect to see a selection of classic pumps and a variety of boots with directional detailing, chic styling and its signature features of ruching, oversized buckles and glam-rock studding. Non-conformist and directional label Iron Fist will make its Moda debut with its latest collection of brightly coloured and tattoo and graffiti-inspired footwear. Women’s footwear brands returning to Moda Footwear include Bronx with its new range featuring a soft colour
palette of white, taupe and soft moss with flashes of red and tangerine to add vibrancy whilst Fly London will deliver a collection of no less than 12 new lines each offering fresh and quirky designs. Look out for great collections from Feud, Mel by Melissa, and Skechers plus many more. Retailers visiting Moda Footwear in February will
discover an unrivalled selection of quality children’s and infants’ footwear brands with many of which making their Moda Debut. New to the show will be Pippo with their range of
leather boots and canvas pumps with crepe rubber soles and leather liners whilst Hush Puppies will be debuting its new range of girls’ boots from its Left Fit, Right Fit collection. Collection highlights from the upcoming season also include Podlers
latest range of breathable linings and flexible rubber soles. Ciao Bimbi will be returning with a new corporate image and three new brands within the Ciao trademark – Ciao Bimbi for baby, Ciao Junior girls and Ciao Junior boys – helping to customise the offer according to different age ranges and requirements. Following the success of the Pineapple Dance Studios television show, the
Pineapple brand and footwear collection has seen fantastic growth. Retailers will be able to select from an expanded line of kids’ winter boots and brightly coloured dance-inspired styles. Other children’s footwear names returning to Moda Footwear include Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Heelys, Dino Soles, Step2wo, and Bobux to name but a few.
The Moda three day event on 20-22 February 2011 at the Birmingham NEC will also include free retail-oriented seminar programmes led by a selection of industry experts and daily catwalk shows.
