All set for the Show


We talk to more hirers from around the UK & Eire - and even from the other side of the globe - about why attending next week’s Executive Hire Show is so important for them and their business.

We have continued to invest in our fleet and have identified several additional markets outside construction that offer significant opportunities. General Manager Ronan Cotter and I will be visiting the Show to look for appropriate innovative products.


We are shortly opening our second depot, in Newry, Northern Ireland, and we will be aiming to cement relationships with suppliers at the Show. The new facility will enable us to supply clients who are winning contracts north of the border, and it will provide Dromad with a platform for further growth. Hirers that have spent the past 18 months to two years assessing their operations and shaping their business models to achieve higher fleet utilisation will be strongly placed for growth, and I am very confident about the future.

Going to the Show is one of my highlights of the year. You meet up with fellow hire professionals and can get a feeling for the general mood of the industry. When you work for yourself as an independent, you can sometimes feel isolated, so attending the exhibition enables you to gain a wider perspective. I’ll be attending with our Depot Manager, John McGuckian, and we’ll be touching base with established suppliers like The Hire Supply Company and Thwaites, and I’m aiming to attend one of the Syrinx training sessions that Higher Concept Software will be running. It’s pleasing to see Bomag on the floor plan this year, as we have a lot of its compaction plates and rammers in our fleet and it will be good to see what’s new. When we go round the stands, we will basically be watching out for something innovative that we can add to the fleet and win new business.

I aim to take a different


member of staff with me to the Show each year, so they can get an insight into the industry and the people and products associated with it.


I’d like to see more suppliers


offering genuine incentives to encourage other hirers to visit the exhibition. That would entice more people and generate more business for exhibitors.

Andy Martin, MD, Martin Plant Hire I will be going to the Show again with our


Buyer, Willie Greig. We like to see what’s new on the market and to find products to develop additional niche opportunities. We will be sure to visit the Innovation Zone in the exhibition hall and see the equipment on show there. Being based in Scotland, our day-to-day contact with manufacturers and suppliers is often only through dealers or agents, so the Show provides a great opportunity to talk to suppliers at first hand. For this reason, it is well worth other hirers in more remote locations making the effort to attend. We also enjoy meeting other regional hirers at the Show, and all in all it is an event you definitely cannot afford to miss.
