SWITCHED ON Tweeters were offered an insight into bmibaby’s route development strategy in early November when its network development manager, Simon Moore, took the hot seat for a live Q&A via twitter, the micro-blogging site. Questions ranged from whether bmibaby was planning to expand its network beyond Europe anytime soon, (it is not in the short-term strategy, Moore explained), what the chances of the carrier fl ying from Cardiff to Prague were (not now, due to low demand), to how to get bmibaby to start a new route of your choice (fi nd 20,000 other people who want to go with you, joked Moore). The carrier had no intention of starting a codeshare with sister carrier Germanwings and the recent hike in the UK Air Passenger Duty has been “unwelcome” explained Moore. The Q&A was thought up by bmibaby’s PR company The Rabbit Agency, which said more than 40 questions had been answered and 160 tweets sent using the #askbmibaby hashtag by the end of the day.
