FIFA 11 may have broken records last month, but it couldn’t stop the UK market from suffering a year-on- year sales dip.

The number of games sold last month was down by 10.6 per cent compared to October 2009. But market value held steady, down by just 1.24 per cent.

The biggest seller was

FIFA 11by a long way, with Medal of Honorin second place. The success of both EA titles made the publisher comfortably the most successful last month. In terms of value EA took 32 per cent of the market; in terms of unit sales it accounted for 27.2 per cent. It was also another triumphant month for 360. Microsoft’s console claimed

40.6%

Xbox 360’s share of the games market in October

an incredible 40.6 per cent of the money made by games. In unit terms it holds a third of the market. PS3 takes second place,

with 25.4 per cent of the market in terms of units and 30.1 per cent in value terms.

FIFA 11was unsurprisingly top this month, followed some way behind by Medal of Honor. It was a good month for Nintendo as well, with two games in the Top Ten, while Bethesda shot up the rankings courtesy of Fallout: New Vegas.
