RAPH EXPO 2010’s Conference Program was produced through a part- nership with the Graphic Communication Institute (GrCI) of California Polytechnic State Univer- sity. More than 50 timely sessions in over 20 education categories will deliver exactly the information you need to move your business forward now from “hands-on” to executive level sessions presented by top experts in their fields.

GRAPH EXPO 2010’s seminar pro- gram is designed to provide you with real take-home value that you can put to use as soon as you return to the office. These sessions will prepare you with the forecast and predictions by industry experts, and provide in-

depth information on key technolo- gies, essential business strategies, and action-oriented solutions.

Regular Seminar Series These content-rich sessions are geared toward the printer, and anyone who works in print and needs to know how to successfully achieve, overcome, predict or resolve specific issues. A special luncheon session offers an even more interactive experience in the art of social media.

Hands-On Computer Labs Real Mac workstations enable you to learn by doing. Each instructor will teach you how to use various software and reveal the tips, tricks and ‘inside scoop’ on how to work

more effectively. Two labs are being offered today. Check the GRAPH EXPO Directory for more informa- tion. Attendees may be paired on one computer. These labs count as 3 ses- sions towards a Value Package.

New Co-Located Events New for GRAPH EXPO 2010 are

two new co-located conferences: the G7 Summit and Xplor Document University.

G7 Summit Education This ‘must-attend’ event for creative, design, premedia, and print production pros is focused on the entire workflow and will share ‘best practices’ from content creation to final output. In- depth educational sessions will explore the G7 calibration process and how it compliments today’s digital workflow.

Waterless is the Way to Go Toray highlights waterless plates

K

BA North America (Booth 1255) and the Pitman Com- pany (Booth 2611) are rep- resenting Toray Industries

Inc. at GRAPH EXPO 2010. In addi- tion, the International Waterless Print- ing Association (Booth 3240) in the GREENspace pavilion is being spon- sored by Toray. “Toray’s message is clear: water- less printing is not only a superior method of printing it is environmen- tally-friendly and attracts print buyers and graphic designers with its superb quality and eco-conscious print pro- cess,” says Eric Friedman, North American sales manager at Toray.

Positive spotlight Toray’s customers are finding that the ever-increasing interest and demand for greener, environmental- ly-friendlier printing is putting a pos- itive spotlight on waterless printing and Toray plates. “Waterless printing is a greener, cleaner printing process that minimizes volatile organic com- pounds (VOCs) and provides qual- ity and productivity benefits,” says Friedman. “Waterless is particularly well suited for VOC-free UV print- ing and printing on plastics and non- absorbent substrates.”

Information on Toray’s offset print- ing plate is available at KBA North America, the Pitman Company, and the International Waterless Printing Association. The Toray waterless plate permits offset printing without the need for water or fountain solu- tion. Elimination of fountain chem- istry provides many significant bene- fits, including enhanced print quality, higher color stability, particularly on non-absorbent substrates like plas- tics and film. In addition, waterless reduces VOC’s, water consumption and waste water generation in the offset printing process. Ever since it was introduced by the Genius 52UV 20-inch

KBA,

press has exclusively used Toray plates. The press, the recipient of the 2006 PIA/GATF InterTech award, is the world’s first waterless UV sheet- fed offset press making it a ‘must- have’ option for printers who care about the environment. The KBA Genius has the abil- ity to print on a seemingly infi- nite array of substrates, including plastics, cardboard, and paper. In fact, its plastic printing capabilities alone produce a range of possibili- ties that include PVC, PC, PS, ABS, PET, and more.
