options including job management, PDF Creation and Preflighting, imposition integration using Dynagram’s inpO2 solution and online job submission and proofing. In the pressroom, the Naviga- tor Workflow Server can control one or more direct press console connec- tions through Xitron’s KeySetter Con- nect digital ink key setting application. The modular system allows for one Navigator Workflow Server to support a multitude of solutions in both prepress and the pressroom.
Agfa Graphics (Booths 844) is high- lighting :Arkitex Portal, a Web browser based software tool involving printer and publisher in a collaborative process. The :Arkitex Portal allows printers
to leverage this collaboration by offer- ing value added services like image optimization and page preflighting. This collaboration helps lower costs through process automation, such as online soft proofing replacing traditional hard copy proofs. A flip book proofing capabil- ity ensures uploaded pages are properly recognized and positioned within the printed product. The :Arkitex Portal works in tandem with :Arkitex Director to ensure that pre- production data is accurately translated into production data. Customers access :Arkitex Portal through a Web-based user interface, and upload files that go through a sequence of pre-defined processing steps—either by the printer or publisher. This sequence of steps describes the workflow. Typical steps are publication planning, file uploading, distilling, preflighting, RIPing, (soft) proofing and approval. Every step is endowed with intelligence to ensure best possible results and productivity.
Workflow Proofing Option
Xitron (Booth 207) is showcasing its
ROOM Proofing option for Navigator Workflow. ROOM Proofing is an option- al module that utilizes the high resolu- tion TIFF files created for final output as the source for proofing output. It is compatible with any Navigator prepress workflow solution including Navigator GPS and Navigator Elite. ROOM Proof- ing expands flexibility for proofing with RIP Once Output Many; customizable descreening and colorization; and com- patibility with Xitron proofing plug-ins. ROOM Proofing is an option in the
latest version of the Navigator Workflow Server. The Navigator Workflow Server provides support for up to five Navigator or other Harlequin RIPs and ten simul- taneous users or clients. The workflow server includes a number of productivity
Digital Color Systems
can produce up to four and five D or A1 size images per minute, respectively. The printer is equipped with the FreeFlow Accxes Print Server—allowing custom- ers to preview scans and simultaneously print, copy, and scan-to-file with select options. Other features include closed loop color calibration, queue manament, and a Gera Butterfly folder, an in-line device that automates the folding process while the solution prints and scans.
Thermal Platesetter
This newest version of uStore also features enhanced user and group man- agement, as well as permission man- agement capabilities, which give store administrators a simple way to organize storefront customers and back office administrators with defined access, roles and permissions. In addition, uStore 4.0 adds features for handling images, including cropping and semi-automatic, interactive color correction.
Color Profiling System
Xanté Corp. (Booth 201) is showcas- ing its heavy-duty Ilumina Digital Enve- lope Press GS, high-end Ilumina Digital Production Press GT, and free iQueue intelligent color workflow.
The Ilumina GS high production digi-
tal color solutions allow small- to mid- sized commercial printers to meet the demand for fast full-color printing. Each runs high definition color technology, the iQueue Color Smart workflow and high volume feeders/delivery conveyors. Xanté’s Ilumina GT digital color print systems deliver true 1200x1200-dpi col- or printing, high definition color tech- nology, the iQueue color smart work- flow and a fast EFI Fiery processor on a wide variety of media and sheet sizes. Xanté’s free iQueue intelligent color
workflow is a multi-faceted content and production management
solution
featuring special screening technology designed to support Ilumina Digital Col- or press users in small to medium sized print shops. The technology allows users to take control of their customers’ digital files, manage production schedules and deliver improved color and print quality.
Black & White Wide-format
Xerox Corporation (Booths 400, 600) is demonstrating the Wide Format 6605 solution, which provides an afford- able option for black-and-white techni- cal documents. The system integrates 600x600 dpi copying, scanning, and printing with an interface to ensure crisp, accurate image quality. An on-board col- or scanner allows hard copy documents to be scanned to electronic files or it can copy existing prints of varying sizes. It
Fujifilm Graphics Systems Division (Booths 627, 1469) is showcasing its Javelin 8600N-S thermal CTP device with single cassette autoloader will also be on the show floor. It is a high-speed platesetter providing an output of up to 22 plates per hour at 2,400 dpi. A center- load registration system with automatic drum balancing, guarantees registration on press for faster makereadies, and an automatic inline punching system helps enable perfect
registration. Featuring
a laser redundancy system, the system will not go down with a laser failure.
E-Commerce Solution
GMG Americas (Booth 644) is intro- ducing GMG SmartProfiler, a color pro- filing solution that allows users to create high quality GMG ColorServer profiles. The combination of GMG SmartPro-
filer and GMG ColorSever opens new opportunities for printers to enhance the color they provide to new levels of quali- ty and color consistency. Users, especial- ly in the digital and large-format printing sectors, increasingly expect exceptional color accuracy, repeatability and colors that match those of print media produced by classic printing processes, such as offset or gravure printing.
Due to identically matched color print- ed output, flexibility in hybrid produc- tion environments is enhanced, because the output system used for printing can be selected at the last minute. The high degree of automation in GMG’s color management helps to cut costs, while increasing productivity and achieving consistent colors.
XMPie (Booths 400, 600) is show- ing uStore 4.0, the latest version of its Web-to-print, business portal solution. The add-on application enables print providers, creative agencies, and corpo- rate marketing departments to build and deploy branded, e-commerce enabled online stores and Web portals for order- ing virtually any type of document. With uStore 4.0, users are able to
expand their operations into the busi- ness-to-consumer space with features such as anonymous shopping. Another feature is the ability to tag store products and categories with searchable terms to maximize visibility to search engines, driving potential customers to the store after a search on the Web.
