controls. This allows for more accurate toner distribution, enhanced airflow unit and toner density stabilization which all provide improved color consistency and halftone smoothness throughout the print run.

The imagePRESS C7010VP delivers rated print speeds of up to 70 letter-sized ppm and 60 ppm, respectively, in color and black-and-white, regardless of paper weight. For larger, tabloid-sized sheets, the new models enhance hourly output productivity on most media types. Further expanding the capabilities of the new imagePRESS models is a new Saddle Press finisher accessory that increases the maximum sheet count by 25%. The increased capacity allows stitching of up to 25 sheets of 13x19.2" paper for creation of 100-page book- lets. Stitching and folding pressure can be adjusted to accommodate different paper stocks and help booklets lie flatter. In addition to the available embedded Canon Printer Kit controller, the new imagePRESS models offer end users a wide range of controller solutions including the latest technologies from EFI Fiery and Creo Color Server.

Inkjet Label Printing System

EFI (Booth 2000) is introducing

Jetrion 4830LED UV, a digital inkjet label printing system with full LED UV curing technology for printing on flexible packaging materials along with a newly developed, flexible ink set to allow printing on unsupported and heat sensitive materials, including shrink sleeve.

The press handles web widths of up to 9" and prints up to 8.3" wide. It features a grayscale printing capability and speeds of up to 120 fpm. Unlike other digital printing systems, there is also no need to pre-coat or pattern-coat flexible substrates when using the 4830LED system. Current and future Jetrion 4830 users can fully upgrade their presses to utilize the flex- ible ink set by retrofitting their systems with the new LED lamp technology.

Streamline Work- flow

Bobst Group (Booth 4027) is unveil- ing its array of bindery products. Its Commercial Autoplaten 106 diecutter is specifically designed to run lightweight papers and has the capability to run materials from .004" to .160", including a wide range of paper, solid board and corrugated paperboard.

The diecutter can run sheets up to 41¾x291/8", allowing it to accept sheets from the largest 40" and newer 41" printing. The Commercial 106 has a top speed of 7,700 sheets per hour. It also has the capability to register sheets from both sides. The VisionFold (shown) with Handy- feeder features high-speed folding plus perfect stream regulation for superb glu- ing quality along with a pick-and-place feeder that separates blanks without feeder marks or interlocking, creating perfect packaging.

Digital Press Enfocus Software (Booth 217) is

showcasing PitStop Pro 10. This upgrade offers improved color management, expanded collaborative working tools, and several user-requested features. Multiple color management presets can be saved for quick and accurate application, as needed. The Color Picker panel can be used to import users’ color libraries, including the latest from Pan- tone. The preset manager can display all color libraries. PitStop Pro allows automatic checking for ink coverage issues while taking into account transparency, overprint settings, overlapping items and layers. Black Point Compensation is supported when using the Adobe CMM or Little CMS. A new interface makes the creation

of Action Lists easier than ever. Action Lists are automated sequences for checking, automatic editing and fixing files in PitStop Pro. QuickRuns, which allow users to run

repetitive tasks through a single click, can now also include Global Changes.

EskoArtwork (Booth 217) is promot- ing its i-cut Suite software that stream- lines entire workflow for large-format digital print and finishing market. i-cut Preflight handles efficient pre- flighting of incoming PDF data, ensur- ing jobs will RIP and print correctly. A set of interactive tools makes it pos- sible to apply corrections without hav- ing to have access to the native design application.

i-cut Layout builds and edits sheet layouts, saving printing time and increasing substrate utilization. Nest- ing of individual pieces can follow multiple strategies. For ‘minimum waste’, different jobs will be grouped on one sheet for optimal material use. ‘Maximum productivity’, best for high quantity orders, creates as many identi- cal sheets as possible to reduce setup times for printing and finishing. Users can easily upgrade to advanced modules, including Structural Design with direct integration with standard structural design programs; Graphics Preparation to create a cutting contour for both vector and image files; and True Shape Nesting delivers additional material optimization when dealing with irregular shapes.

MGI USA (Booth 3217) is present- ing its Meteor DP60 Pro multi-substrate digital press. The Meteor prints on a variety of substrates, including paper, plastics, and envelopes, and offers the longest sheet size, up to 40", in produc- tion. It features laser-safe print capabili- ties and offset-comparable prints.

3D Packaging Design Tools

GPA, Specialty Substrate Solutions (Booth 129) is showing additions to its line of specialty photo substrates for HP Indigo presses, Ultra Photo-Photo Lustre Paper and a variety of new Ultra Digital FlexBind Layflat Photo Pages. The satin-matte surface of Ultra Pho- to-Photo Lustre Papers offers the look and feel of a genuine photo print, rivaling the qualities of traditional silver halide papers with the on-demand advantages of digital printing and two-sided print- ability. This sheet’s construction allows it to stand up to the demands of repeated handling, and it is heirloom quality archival for a lifetime of vibrancy. Adding to its line of Ultra Digital

FlexBind Layflat Photo Pages, GPA offers a wide selection of hinged pho- to papers that gives customers more choices to create a wider variety of eye- catching photo books.

10 gives packaging and label designers and manufacturers easy access to a num- ber of tools to integrate 3D functionality in their workflows.

Studio 10 comprises Studio Designer, which provides 3D preview windows in Adobe Illustrator, PackEdge, and Art- Pro; the different Studio Toolkits sup- plying the 3D models and Studio Visu- alizer, a hyper-realistic on-screen mock up, including finishing effects. Studio allows designers to create 3D visuals which are representative for the real production artwork. The 3D pre- view helps correct design flaws as early in the process as possible. As Studio exports industry standard file formats (3D PDF, QuickTime movies, jpg), the virtual mock-ups are easily shared with all supply chain partners, thereby speed- ing up the design and approval process.
