Mark Hischar, the recently appoint- ed President and CEO remarked “This past year has been a year of challenge for this industry, but for KBA it has been a year of great progress.” The company has done that by focusing on the customer and plans to continue that effort, moving forward. A large por- tion of the sheetfed business has come from former non-KBA users who were swayed by customer testimony to the technology and aftermarket support. KBA has also focused strong atten- tion on the commercial market. Its C16 commercial web press 16pp provides a high net output, fast job changes, low levels of start-up waste, enhanced pro-

Konica Minolta bizhub PRESS 8000 won coveted Must See ‘em recognition at GRAPH EXPO. During a press conference on Monday, Kevin Kern, Senior Vice President, Mar- keting, revealed that the company has introduced the bizhub PRESS 7000 and bizhub PRESS 6000 at GRAPH EXPO 2010. The new presses are based on the bizhub PRESS 8000 print engine, but are designed for lower volume demands and at a lower price point. Both new presses can be seen at Konica Minol- ta’s booth (#2244). They will replace the company’s popular model 6501, which has been discontinued. CGS Publishing Technologies Inter- national (booth 432), and Screen USA (booth 1637) announced an agreement to bundle ORIS technology with each Truepress Jet520 press sold within North and South America, starting in Q4. An ORIS-enabled press is located at the Screen USA booth for demon- strations.
The decision comes after months of testing with results of up to 15% ink savings, and increased color qual- ity on a variety of stocks. “Decreas- ing the total volume of ink used and improving drying was our number one goal. The overall improvement in color reproduction is an added benefit to our customers,” says Screen Product Man- ager Tom Leibrandt. CGS’ Director of Strategic Business, Bruce Brown was optimistic about the Truepress Jet520’s expanding role. “The ink savings we measured are sub- stantial, but that’s only the beginning,”

CGS’s CEO, Trevor Haworth, outlined the new software bundle agreement with Screen (USA).
