NAPL Introduces New Capital Investment Study

Agfa Graphics and Pitman Team Up to Provide Inkjet Solutions

Their comprehensive assortment of inkjet solutions includes entry-level systems all the way up to high-speed industrial inkjet, plus a wide variety of rigid and flexible media. Agfa’s booth is fully dedicated to

profit-generating inkjet solutions, including Agfa’s :Anapurna M 2050 UV-curable inkjet printer, which is making its North American debut at GRAPH EXPO. The :Anapurna M 2050 is designed to give users a cost- effective solution for speed and 1440- dpi display printing.


The :Jeti 1224 HDC FTR (flat-to-roll) high-definition UV inkjet printer, a Must See ‘ems recipient, is running live dur- ing the entire show. The 96" wide flat- bed architecture of the :Jeti 1224 HDC allows for printing on virtually anything that is reasonably flat, up to 5cm thick. It is well suited for high-resolution trade show graphics, POS (Point-of-Sale) dis- plays, real estate signs, backlit signs, lenticular displays, high-resolution ban- ners, ceramic tiles, and wood. GRAPH EXPO attendees can also learn about Agfa’s :M-Press TIGER, a high-speed UV flatbed inkjet press, the :Dotrix high-speed UV web inkjet printing press and Agfa-made inks. In the Pitman booth, a full assort- ment of prepress, press and packaging solutions are displayed. GRAPH EXPO attendees can stop by for demos of :Apogee 7, the latest version of Agfa’s award-winning automated workflow that includes :Apogee Impose, an Agfa- developed imposition module that relies on live job information rather than tem- plates to perform imposition. In addi- tion, :Apogee 7 allows print buyers to

The study includes input from 364 companies, ranging from less than $1 million to more than $300 million in annual sales. The research began by asking par- ticipants about their investment pri- orities for the past three years and for the next three years. They were interviewed extensively about issues such as their most trusted sources for

go beyond the Web-to-print screen to create new jobs in the prepress stage with WebApproval. Agfa is also demonstrating its plate portfolio, which includes :Azura TS chemistry-free thermal plate, as well as the InterTech Technology award- winning :Energy Elite plate. Agfa’s :Amigo TS, which is making its North American debut at GRAPH EXPO, runs up to 50% faster than the original. Agfa is also displaying :Arkitex 7, the automated workflow specifically suited to fit the evolving needs of newspapers.

Inkjet hardware featured includes the Epson GS 6000 low-solvent print- er, the Epson Stylus Pro 9900 and the HP L25500 printer.


On the press side, Sun Chemical has installed GFI’s automated Mx12 ink formulation dispenser allowing for the formulation of spot colors using Sun Chemical's SmartColour Global Shade Library. SGBlue CAP (Clean Air Plant) air purification system is also being exhibited. Packaging segment highlights include Cyrel FAST plates, direct-to- plate products from DuPont and Toray and the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 printer with GMG Flexoproof for flexographic proofing.


Facilitator Wendy Pressley-Jacobs—member of the Chicago AIGA Advisory Board and Creative Director for her company Pressley Jacobs Design—led an international discussion in the free special presentation for creative services & marketing pros: “DESIGNing the Americas Trends, ‘Best Prac- tices’ and the Future of Design from Impressive Publishers Covering Print, Online, Mobile and Packaging.” The global panel consisted of three major publishers: Gordon Kaye of Graphic Design USA (also the event's sponsor) representing the U.S. market; Luis Reynoso Vilches of REDiseño, based in Mexico, representing the Latin American market; and, Doug Bennet of DesignEdge Canada. Each representative discussed their viewpoints in the current trends in the design industry, as well as their predictions of where the industry is headed.
