ONVIF-COMPLIANT HD IP CAMERAS Optelecom-NKF Inc. released its first ONVIF-com- pliant high-definition (HD) IP cameras, the Siqura 6x series, with HD (720p) and Full HD (1080p) versions. The traditional box-style BC6x cameras and the vandal-proof fixed-dome FD6x cameras provide HD resolution images in H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG. With the option to configure multiple combinations of resolution and frame rate, it is possible to satisfy a variety of different live-viewing and recording scenarios, making these cameras ideal for large professional installations where high resolu- tions and quality images are needed. The Siqura 6x cameras offer true day/night and backlight compensation as standard features, as well as wide dynamic range functionality in some models, to ensure quality images in difficult lighting condi- tions. These new cameras can be powered from AC, DC, or PoE power sources. Optelecom-NKF Inc.

2-TERABYTE HARD DRIVES FOR RECORDERS Bosch Security Systems Inc. introduced a 2-terabyte storage expansion kit for its Divar XF and the 700 Series network and hybrid digital recorders. The kit enables customers to increase the internal storage capacity of the record- ers to up to 8 terabytes. With the systems’ H.264 compression technology and the storage expansion kit, customers can depend upon the recorders to meet the most demanding requirements for image quality and retention times. For example, the Divar 700 Series Network Recorder, which supports 32 IP channels, can now hold up to 45 days of real-time, continuous 4CIF recording. The disks can also operate in RAID-4 con- figuration to prevent the loss of recorded data if a single hard disk
should fail. This optional RAID configuration can be added by simply install- ing a low-cost software license to any Divar XF or 700 Series Recorder. Bosch Security Systems Inc.

ETHERNET EXTENDER PROVIDES COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS Ethernet Extension Experts (E3) is now shipping its Enable-IT 828, a copper- based Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ Extender. Using the same cost-cutting copper- based technologies as its other products, Ethernet Extension Experts’ 828 drives full-duplex 1,000MB (true Gigabit) data and PoE+ out to over double giga- bit Ethernet’s dis- tance limit (800 ft. versus just 328 ft.) or, when daisy-chained across four units,
out to as far as 2,000 ft. Users can now pass Ethernet’s distance limit by simply connecting the affordable 828 to their standard CAT-rated cabling (CAT-5, 5e, or 6), rather than having to spend thousands on fiber or other resource- intensive solutions, the company said.
