Communicator Opens Up Interactivity, RMR Possibilities to Any Panel
Telular, Chicago, Ill., had a big announce- ment back at ISC West this year when it unveiled the TG-1 Express, its small- est cellular communicator designed to bring flexible features, functionality and lower costs and installation times to every cell-only, no-landline, and voice over IP (VoIP) home. Telular announced that the unit, based on dial capture technology and powered off the panel, detects virtu- ally all alarm formats using dial capture for universal panel compatibility, making it possible to replace landlines in virtually every alarm panel, whether legacy or new generation, without replacing the panel. It is a common predicament these days,
figuring out how to make a legacy, exist- ing panel do what many of the new panels can do. One of those missing features is often interactivity, a new RMR opportu- nity that is also experiencing growing con- sumer demand. At ISC Solutions, Telular will announce another feature of the TG-1 Express designed to help dealers capital- ize on both, announcing interactivity for every panel, every time, all with a simple wiring change on the TG-1 Express. interactivity to every panel, opening up the market of legacy and previously installed units, explained Shawn Welsh, vice presi- dent of marketing and business develop- ment, Telular.
“When a customer calls or walks in and says, ‘Do you offer interactivity?’ after they’ve heard about it, they are thinking of adding a few dollars to their existing bill — they aren’t thinking about chang- ing their panel, which could be a neces- sary, expensive decision until now,” Welsh said. “Previously, if the panel wasn’t right, customers would have to pay for a new panel, radio, and then the new service.
That unexpected price tag is a huge bar- rier. With Telguard, customers can have that functionality for around $150 for the TG-1 Express and the new price of the service each month. “More importantly, it also opens up the chance of RMR to all the existing panels. All the panels that have been installed for the last 10 to 20 years may look antiquated, but now, they can still do what the new panels can do. This also gives dealers an opportunity to go back to their existing customers with a new service,” Welsh said. Telular’s service isn’t about bells and whistles. The company said it took time to research the leading features that cus- tomers demanded the most and then left all the least requested features behind in an effort to create a simple system that was easy to install and use.
Users can arm and disarm the system remotely, receive notifications of arming and disarming of the systems, view history reports and more.
