Honeywell Executive Named President of Security & Communications Business
Honeywell’s JoAnna Sohovich, a company executive who has held positions in several of its business divisions, has been appointed president of Honeywell Security & Communications for the Americas. Sohovich will report to Ron Rothman, president of Honeywell Security Group.

as we continue to introduce innovative, new products and build on the great legacy that began many years ago with the Ademco brand.” Sohovich previously held positions in Honeywell Automation and Control Solu- tions (ACS), Honeywell Aerospace and Honeywell Specialty Materials. Most recently, Sohovich was the vice president and general manager of Commercial Control Systems, a business within Honeywell Environmental and Combustion Controls. “I’m honored to lead a business with such a rich history in the security industry, and one that has long been regarded as a leader in intrusion technology,” Sohovich said. “There are exciting new developments in this industry that will greatly shape the way today’s homes and businesses are secured, and I’m looking forward to working with our dealers and integrators to help usher in these new technologies.” Honeywell Security & Communications supplies security and fire controls, sensors and alarm communications products designed to help security dealers design end-to- end solutions for a wide range of residential and commercial customers. ■
COPS Expands Capabilities of Arizona
Central Station COPS Monitoring expanded and strengthened its operations by increasing staff in its Scottsdale, Ariz. central station. COPS owns and operates three strategically located load-sharing central sta- tions in Arizona, New Jersey and Florida. To balance staffing more equally between its three central stations and to improve its failover capabilities, COPS promoted 10-year COPS vet- eran Dale Marzili to operations manager of its Arizona central station. Dale, along with five additional dispatchers and shift manag- ers, who have an average experience of nearly four years, relocated from New Jersey to Arizona in May. COPS also hired 13 additional dispatchers in Arizona who have all been put through COPS’ initial 120-hour training program. “We take our responsibility to our dealers seriously,” McMullen said. “By diver- sifying our central stations and our workforce by increasing our strength in Arizona, we are not only showing our commitment to operate multiple 24/7 facilities, we also significantly reduce the chances that a single local catastrophe or weather event will affect our ability to serve our customers.” COPS’ philosophy was put to the test during the record-breaking 2010 snowstorms that crippled the Northeast region. Although the storms affected its ability to staff its New Jersey central station, COPS compensated with its other central stations in Ari- zona and Florida. The result was a significant 2.69 sec. reduction of its 2009 average alarm response time of 16.09 sec. ■
