THE HIP LIST supperclub

Your mum told you never to eat lying down but you may want to make an exception for supperclub. The London incarnation of Amsterdam’s ‘in bed’ dining phenomenon has landed in a Notting Hill warehouse and is being described as ‘the most fun you can have in bed with your clothes on’. The cavernous space is all white, with exposed pipes and LED lighting giving it a clubby, NYC meatpacking district kind of vibe. Although tables are available, the customary way to dine here is to recline on giant raised beds while theatrically dressed waiting staff (pictured) bring you a succession of dishes served in surprising vessels (like cardboard boxes or kilner jars). There’s no

menu to choose from, the four course tasting menu is served every evening at 20.30 (with an alternative version for veggies.) The food changes weekly and is created by Renaud Marin, formerly of the Oxo Tower. Roasted scallops and butternut squash with soya glazed bok choi, lemongrass and Thai basil froth will tickle your taste buds while you feast your eyes on weird, wonderful live shows. Expect anything from pole dancing robots and flower arranging strippers to lip-synching drag acts who disappear into gigantic balloons. After dinner, the venue transforms into a supercool club with throbbing beats to keep you entertained way past your bedtime.
