THE HIP LIST Seven Park Place
After receiving glowing reviews from Giles Coren and Jay Rayner, this boutique restaurant has become a firm favourite with London’s glamorous gastronomes. Set within the exclusive, recently refurbished St James’ Hotel and Club, the 30-cover dining room oozes Parisian sophistication with decadent black flowering wall and buttercup yellow banquettes. The food that the critics are raving about comes courtesy of executive chef William Drabble, former head chef at Gordon Ramsay’s Michelin-starred Aubergine. You may not have heard of Drabble as he keeps such a low media profile. However, in foodie circles, he’s known as one of London’s most talented chefs
and since joining Seven Park Place in December 2009, he’s already been awarded three AA Rosettes. Drabble’s dishes are Modern French in style but crafted from primarily British, seasonal ingredients. His signature dish is an indulgent lobster tortellini with roasted cauliflower and truffle butter sauce. Elsewhere on the menu you can find other extravagant concoctions such as black leg chicken with foie gras sauce; warm quail salad with hazelnut orange dressing, and rhubarb jelly with iced lemon cream. For those who like to try a bit of everything, there’s also a six course ‘Gourmand’ tasting menu for £59 (or £109 served with matching wines).
