Almost a decade has passed since Clive
Christian, a well established designer,
acquired one of the oldest perfumeries
in Britain which was honoured by Queen
Victoria in 1872 when she granted the
company the image of her crown.
Christian credits the move to his eldest
daughter Victoria’s passion for perfume,
combined with his own relentless pursuit of
timeless luxury and British excellence.
Inspired by the original values of the
perfumery from the 1800’s, Christian released
a definitive collection of Pure Perfumes for
men and for women – no colognes or eau de
toilettes.
At the pinnacle of this definitive
collection is ‘N

.1 Perfume’, which as a
consequence of the desire to create
a perfume with no reference to
cost or limitations, became ‘The
World’s Most Expensive Perfume’.
This marked a moment in British
perfume history which was
recognised by the Guinness World
Records.
Limited by the rarity of the
precious ingredients which make
up each ounce, such as aged Indian
sandalwood and crystallised Tahitian
vanilla, every bottle of No.1 Perfume
is studded with a single brilliant cut
diamond to symbolize the delicate
facets of the complex perfume when
worn on the skin.
In 2006 Christian released a limited
edition bottle of No.1, fittingly called
Imperial Majesty. Cut in Baccarat crystal
and valued at over MOP$1 million, it
is designed to celebrate every aspect
of No.1 The World’s Most Expensive
Perfume.
A unique bottle of No.1 Perfume was
commissioned for Queen Elizabeth II’s
Golden Jubilee in the shape of a diamond-
studded crystal tiara and the perfume
has graced the gardens of Sir Elton John’s
White Tie & Tiara Ball in honour of the
Elton John Aids Foundation.
