Overview
Tucson in January provides a nice change for those living in cold-weather cities. Average
temperatures range in the 60s, allowing visitors to enjoy Tucson’s unique terrain. The
city, covered in cacti and surrounded by hills and mountains, offers outdoor enthusiasts
opportunities to hike to points with breathtaking views and to take invigorating nature
walks. Only 45 miles from the Mexican boarder, Tucson is a growing city, rich in
diversity, and influenced by Native American and Mexican culture.
Tucson has world-class dining choices, many of which have an authentic Mexican or
southwestern flavor. Downtown Tucson has a number of cultural venues, including
the Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block, the Symphony Orchestra, and
historical buildings and walking tours. With two large shopping districts, Tucson has
eclectic stores filled with modern-day finds and a generous selection of authentic

Where to Go
Check out La Fuente for dinner, which features a live mariachi band and freshly made
guacamole. For a quick bite and a drink, go to Gentle Ben’s or Frog & Firkin, both of
which are down the street from the Marriott University Park Hotel. During downtime,
take in a game of golf at one of more than 20 area courses.
University Life
Located in the heart of Tucson, the University of Arizona’s large campus encompasses
356 acres. Institute’s classes, breaks, and exhibits are held on the University of Arizona
campus, about a 10-minute walk from the Marriott University Park Hotel. Lunch is
